We visited Daejeon between late July and early August. With a little time to spare on the day we arrived, we looked for a café near Yongmun Station. The place that caught our eye was Wonjuyul.

It was a properly hot midsummer day. We love walking, though, so we decided to go a little farther from the station on foot.
The streets were quiet and full of that lush summer green, making the walk feel pleasant despite the heat. Perhaps because Namseon Park is nearby, the whole lane felt peaceful.
The atmosphere at Wonjuyul café
Wonjuyul has a warm interior with plenty of wood. It looked small from the front entrance, but there was more seating farther inside.

If I remember correctly, there were about eight tables . The lane around the café felt familiar and quiet, which made it easy to unwind.
What stayed with me was the warmth of the wood rather than a flashy or crowded space. I did not check for power outlets, although I think I saw someone using a laptop.

We ordered one pie and iced Americanos and took a little break!
Blueberry chocolate pie and coffee
I had no idea before visiting Wonjuyul that it was such a great place for pie! There were so many kinds in the display: pumpkin, chocolate and egg pies, among others.
I even saw someone take home about six pies!

We chose the blueberry chocolate pie. I had originally planned to try the golden kiwi cheese pie, but the blueberry one looked too good to pass up. 😋
I usually expect the crust of a pie to be hard, but this one had a soft yet crisp texturethat I really liked.

The cream cheese and blueberries were so good that I scooped up every bit...
I expected it to be very sweet, but it wasn't. The balance of sweet chocolate and cream cheese, tart blueberries, and the flavor and texture of the crustworked beautifully. We ate every last crumb.
For me, the delicious crust was the most memorable part.
The coffee was good too. It was so hot that day that I ended up having two iced Americanos. (I drank them so quickly that I didn't even take a photo... 🥲)
Next time, I'd like to try another kind of pie. If my hands weren't already full, I'd even consider taking some home as a gift!
Can you get gift packaging for the pies?
Gift packaging for the pies appeared to be available in the shop. It's best to check the packaging options with the café before ordering!
Amenities
Restrooms
As far as I remember, there were separate restrooms for women and men.
Women's restroom: inside the café
Men's restroom: outside, near the café
I believe that was the arrangement!
Parking
I didn't see a dedicated parking area for the café when I visited. Wonjuyul's listing on Tablingalso seems to say that parking is unavailable. Oh no.
I couldn't confirm whether there is a nearby public car park, so if you're driving, it's worth checking where to park before you leave.
Smoking area
I didn't see a designated smoking area!
If you enjoy walking as much as we do, I recommend passing through the quiet lanes near Yongmun Station and stopping by Wonjuyul café.
It was very hot in midsummer, but remembering that break with a cold iced Americano and a delicious pie makes me want to visit again! 😋
